Fortner Engineering is a grandfather of the airline maintenance industry with 44 years of experience. As a closely held 3rd generation family business, Fortner has never strayed far from its immediate area of expertise: the repair/overhaul of commercial and military aircraft hydraulic components. Consequently, the vast amount of experience gathered during this time period has enabled us to attain a level of quality that is unsurpassed in this industry.

The vast majority of the components overhauled by Fortner are not "life-limited" parts. They typically are removed "on condition", which means they are removed when they fail or are suspected as being part of a system wide fault. Consequently, it is often difficult for an operator to accurately determine the level of quality given by one vendor or another given the lack of hard information. However, we submit that our years of experience combined with our relatively narrow area of focus and expertise has enabled us to become true experts in what we do. We believe this results in the highest quality standard and results amongst our competitors. Informal research and studies have consistently proven this out over the years.

Fortner Engineering was originally issued FAA Special Federal Aviation Regulation 36 (SFAR-36) authority in November, 1980. SFAR-36 gives Fortner permission to "develop and use major repair data which are not specifically approved by the Administrator". In simple terms, this consent allows Fortner to develop and implement repairs that are not covered in the OEM's Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM's).

This industry-recognized practice allows Fortner to repair, rather than replace, most unserviceable detail components that are classified as non-repairable in the CMM. In fact, many of the major U.S. Repair Stations use Fortner as a subcontractor due to our extensive capabilities. If you are using a Repair Station or OEM competitor of ours for the items we are quoting, it is highly probable that the competitor is either subcontracting the most critical work to Fortner or replacing these unserviceable items with costly OEM factory new parts. This inevitably results in a higher invoice and longer lead-time than is necessary.

In recent years, Fortner Engineering has developed a reputation for strong customer service based on timeliness and precision. We take pride in our ability to deliver in situations requiring immediate results. In these days of smaller inventories, our airline customers need their requests and requirements met expeditiously and accurately. We may not be able to perform every miracle requested, but we vow to do our best to meet or exceed even the highest expectations.

We believe these strong points listed to be only a sampling of what we have to offer. We invite you to try our services and see for yourself.
